WP Group was approached by JS Bailey Cheese Ltd to develop a comprehensive proposal for a custom-built drive-in racking system for the company’s new warehouse facility. The overarching goal was to optimise storage efficiency and facilitate ease of inventory management within their growing operations.
From the outset, WP Group worked closely with the main contractor and senior company representatives to ensure that the storage solution would align perfectly with the specific needs and constraints of JS Bailey Cheese Ltd. This collaborative approach was vital in creating a seamless integration with the overall warehouse design and operational workflow.
The resulting solution consists of three substantial blocks of Drive-In racking, with each block ascending to a maximum height of 9.20 meters. This strategic arrangement has effectively introduced an impressive additional capacity of 760 pallet positions within the facility. These positions are methodically organised across 32 lanes, each capable of holding up to 6 pallets deep. This well-thought-out configuration maximises the use of available vertical and horizontal space, thereby significantly enhancing overall storage potential across the warehouse layout.
WP Group’s Design Consultant, Nick Robinson, played a pivotal role in the project, steering it from its initial conception through to the final installation. His involvement included continually revising the original racking plans to reflect ongoing changes necessitated by evolving construction specifications. Nick’s adaptive approach was crucial in addressing challenges as they arose during the project.
“Working with the main contractors, we adapted our drawings as new challenges emerged, a new supporting structure meant an update to both position, height and specification of our rack installation. In some instances, this was a challenging project, but one for which the final result gave me a lot of personal satisfaction and which will deliver on all aspects of the customer brief,” said Nick Robinson. This sentiment underscores the meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence that characterised the project, ensuring that the final racking system is not only robust and efficient but also tailored to meet the specific demands of JS Bailey Cheese Ltd.
